The guys from In Flames shown many times throughout your career.

The Swedes have had me since the 2000 album Clayman as a regular supporter and listener, because the following albums didn’t grab me anymore and the glory of the old days has crumbled. Anders Frieden annoyed me with his whispered singing and everything was too modern for me.

There was a brief flare-up on the last album I, the Mask, which didn’t completely convince me either. The pre-tracks for the new album made me animate a kind of anticipation. now stands Foregone on the shelves and my thumbs both go up!

Obviously has Anders Friden & Co. animated by their former band members. As the inclined fan knows, we’re talking regarding last year’s Halo Effect debut album, which is a kind of tribute to the 1990s melo-death days of In Flames has been. Additionally, the Gothenburgers have teamed up with the former Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick brought powerful reinforcement, which in my opinion had an immediate effect on the songwriting.

The first two tracks State of Slow Decay and Meet your Maker HERE are already going full steam ahead with tasty treats. The band has had more powerful songs since Colony no longer written. Also shows Anders´ Vocals a mangy note, even if I think there is always room for more and his clean singing voice just doesn’t appeal to me.

Despite everything, the album consists of really good numbers. This is ensured by the powerful production, as well as the energetic riffs and hearty guitar solos. The gripping melodies are particularly memorable at the end. Bleeding Out For example, is a song that might be a little secret favorite with fans of the new generation due to its driving guitars, which sound as if they come from an Amon Amarth album, and formative sing-along refrain.

It is similar with the melodic semi-ballad Pure Light of Mind be in the Anders vocally, surprisingly for me, cuts a very good figure. We stick to the element of surprise. This grabs me with the favorites of the disc. The title tracks Foregone Pt.1 und Pt.2, HERE is the heaviest and best thing the band has done since the supersonic disc Whoracle Have written.

Finest melodic death metal with a hard edge and outstanding hook are in the first part of the title track. The aha effect was so big that I first had to see if it was really regarding In Flames is regarding 2023. Part two reveals how changeable the Swedes have become and how musically they have moved with the times.

The Great Deceiver is also one of my favorites on the album as it has catchy old-school band trademark riffs and leaves no room for respite. Everything is from the punchy Howard Benson production. He has created an organic sound with immense power. I would have only wished for less clean singing from Mr The peace.

Conclusion
In Flames
have me with them Foregone brought back on board and were able to do two quarters of the albums back to the 1990s. lots and Broderick do a great job and the powerful sound makes them look even better. For me the best album by In Flames since the Clayman. So there are stately ones 8 / 10
