In Faimes, three new young advisors, unchanged taxes and a bridge loan for the CPAS

The swearing-in of young councilors of the Municipal Children’s Council (CCE) of Faimes always constitutes a solemn moment, for them and for their parents. Three of them were “named” this Monday evening. This year, there are three “applicants” and therefore three new elected officials. Due to a lack of candidates, there was no electoral campaign and therefore no elections for Zoé, Cyril and Karl, the three new councilors who took the oath. Sponsored by a current advisor, they received a scarf, a bouquet of chic flowers and a diploma, in front of the council… as well as Mesdames Angélique and Fabienne who supervise them. They have no shortage of projects for their “political” future… Like ecological internships! Or visiting an exhibition on bullying at school. They will perhaps become the adult counselors of tomorrow. They will have to manage taxes, finances and royalties, items on the agenda for the council meeting this Monday evening.

With a personal income tax (IPP) of 8.8% and a property tax of 2,600 additional centimes, the main municipal taxes do not change, just before an election year. The cover tax (96%) of the 2024 truth cost in terms of waste does not vary either. Continuing, the municipal tax on the collection and processing of household waste does not change either. On the other hand, there are modifications to the fees on documents drawn up and delivered by the town planning department as well as on the services of municipal staff on behalf of third parties.

Postponed at the start of the session due to the start of a fire in the CPAS apartments of the former Les Waleffes presbytery, the point concerning the budgetary modification of the CPAS was discussed upon the president’s return. “These are adaptations, adjustments and corrections to ordinary service”, specifies François Thonon. For the extraordinary service, the CPAS requested a “advance in the form of a bridge loan” to the Municipality to pay its share of €484,000 (less €148,000 from its reserve fund) for intervention in the cost of work on the new wing of the municipal administration. While awaiting the imminent outcome of the financial aspect of the “Braas” inheritance. A “communal generosity” which worries the opposition (Patrice Decelle) who will abstain during the vote.
