Convicts will be prepared for their release from prison, integration into the labor market and society at the halfway house.
Residents found out about the planned opening of the institution from job advertisements – the search for employees for the halfway house began.
The plans to establish Pusiaukele’s house shocked the residents – the area is densely populated, next to the pro-gymnasium, it is less than 300 meters from the future Pusiaukele’s building, and there are also kindergartens nearby. People are worried about whether a safe environment will be provided.
The halfway house building was purchased for 1 million. euros.
If employees are found, the institution will start operating at the end of this year, with 20 probation officers working in it.
The Lithuanian Prison Service announces that next week, on November 8, in the Domeikava leisure hall (Bažnyčios st. 3, Domeikava), it is planned to present the concept of the half-school house to the community.
Representatives of the Lithuanian Prison Service, the Lithuanian Probation Service, and the police will take part in the meeting. Residents of Domeikava ward and other community members are invited to participate in the event.
The foster home still operates in Alytus, Marijampole, Vilnius, Pravieniškės, Panevėžys, Šiauliai and Taurage. More than 100 convicts are serving their sentences in them.
