The Israeli Army is reportedly preparing possible action against Iran in coordination with the United States (US) following Iran’s retaliatory missile attack on Israel earlier this month. This is according to Israeli media reports on Sunday (13/10).
Israel has already decided on the type of response against Iran, although the exact timing has not been determined, according to Channel 12. On Saturday evening local time, the Israeli army announced the deployment of the US-made Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system in Israel to counter the potential threat of long-range ballistic missiles from Iran.
Channel 12 reports that the current THAAD deployment is part of Israel’s preparations for a major attack on Iran. The Israeli army coordinates closely with the US which will be notified before taking any action against Iran.

The THAAD system, which will be operated by US personnel in Israel, is designed to intercept ballistic missiles at high altitudes. This will significantly increase Israel’s air defense capabilities.
The system, produced by US defense company Lockheed Martin, can intercept short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.
On October 1, Iran launched an attack involving around 180 missiles. This was reportedly in response to the killing of former Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, along with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Revolutionary Guard official Abbas Nilforoushan in Tehran.
The Israeli military later confirmed that the missile attack caused damage to several of its air bases and indicated that preparations for retaliation against Iran were underway.
Iran defended its missile attack, citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows member states to use force to defend themselves after an armed attack. (Ant/Z-2)
