A report of Legal Medicine reveals that during 2021, Colombia reported 26,803 violent deaths, of which 13,032 were homicides; 7,307 were related to transportation accidents; 3,149 with other types of accidents and 2,595 suicides.
Records indicate there was 3,296 violent deaths more than those recorded in 2020.
The figures for assaults and personal injuries are also worrying. The number of assault injuries also increased. A total of 160,890 cases were registered.
Among the most striking cases, there were 65,450 cases of interpersonal violence; 51,610 cases of domestic violence, and 21,434 medical examinations were carried out for alleged sexual abuse.
