The 1950s and especially the 1960s saw the development of scuba diving, with the parallel arrival of instruments allowing divers to ensure their safety.
At the time, no wrist computer, but watches, the first diving watches. Blancpain, Rolex and many other brands have produced their timepieces that can safely calculate immersion times…
During those years, Eberhard & Co developed its Scafograf model which was then available in many versions: 100 meters, 200 meters and even 300 meters, knowing that a very large majority of divers do not descend to more than 60 meters , there is a margin. At the time, she was also one of the rare “divers” to wear a date.
Today, the brand is back once once more with this bestseller from the 50s-60s-70s in an almost “full black” version. A very limited edition which will only be produced in 135 copies on the occasion of the anniversary of the foundation of Eberhard celebrated in 2022.
This automatic diver (caliber ETA 28247-2) is equipped with a unidirectional black ceramic bezel (therefore scratch-resistant) which allows the calculation of diving times as well as the timing of short times, less than 60 minutes.
Note that this graduated bezel is luminescent for the first 15 minutes. Just like the large hands and indexes also coated with cream-colored Superluminova to give this “diver” a vintage look.
The curved matte black dial is protected by a sapphire crystal. Note the absence of the date which is displayed on the other models at 3 o’clock. The whole is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. This Scafograf with screw-down crown features a personalized screw-down case back engraved with a starfish (formerly a seahorse).
This model is mounted on a black rubber strap.
