General Motors, the largest automaker in the United States, decided to recall 111,242 Chevrolet Bolt electric cars in the United States because of a defect that might lead to a fire in the car when the seat belt pretensioners were engaged. Bloomberg news agency quoted the US National Traffic Safety Administration as saying that once the seat belt pretensioners work, the pretensioner outlet can issue sparks that ignite the carpet fibers located near the B-pillar, which can lead to a fire in the car.

Dealers will install foil over the carpet fibers near the tensioner exit, with tensioner caps installed when necessary on 2017-2023 vehicles.

Last week, General Motors, the largest car producer in the United States, decided to recall 740 and 108,000 cars in the United States due to a defect in the high-lighting lamp system, as the driver may not be able to turn off these lamps when necessary.

The recall includes the 2020-2023 Cadilla CT4, 2021-2023 CT5, 2022-2023 Buick Envision, Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yancon XL.
