Two pools

Upon entering the reception hall, the visitor is directly immersed in the atmosphere since a large bay window allows you to observe the 25-meter pool, in the foreground, and the small pool, in the background. “The configuration is reversed from what the residents knew,” explains Richard Curutchet, responsible for the swimming pool.

Alain Bernard is the first Olympic champion in the 100 meter freestyle (Beijing, 2008)

With six lifeguards and four reception agents, he oversees the operation of the site during extended time slots. In fact, the first Aquabike sessions begin at 8 a.m. in the morning and the aquatic gymnastics classes end at 9:45 p.m. “We are open seven days a week, with baby-swimmer and aquatic garden activities (children over 3 years old) and swimming on Sundays until 1 p.m. »

9 million euros

Built by the Fayat group, the swimming pool cost 9 million euros. “We might never have done it alone,” admits Michel Héritié. The Metropolis (3 million euros), the Department and the National Sports Agency put their hands in their pockets. In total, the municipality supports half of the amount. “This is an important and necessary investment. It represents 700,000 euros per year in operating costs,” adds the mayor. Inside, the light from outside gives a soft color to the stainless steel basin. While school groups come and go for their lessons, the visitor is struck by the tranquility of the place where, usually, the cries of children are echoed by the water and the bay windows of the facades.
