Alappuzha |Police driver arrested following two youths died following being hit by a police jeep scooter that went out of control. Alappuzha AR Camp policeman Vishnudas (32) was arrested by North Police. He was arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter and dangerous driving.
The deceased have been identified as Justin (Aniachan-38), son of Thirty Akampadam Edward, Kottayam Vellore Chungam, and Ashik Edward Alex (Vavachi-20), son of Juliamma, Kumarakam Puthantod Nalukandam, who returned home on a scooter following celebrating New Year at the beach. Aashiq is the son of Justin’s mother’s sister.
The accident took place near Talavadi Junction on the Alappuzha-Muhamma road at 3.30 am on Sunday. The accident was caused by the jeep of Alappuzha DCRB.DYSP. After taking the DySP to his residence in Kottayam Chingavan following completing his duty at the beach, the out-of-control police jeep hit Justin and Alex’s bike while returning to Alappuzha via Thanneermukkam. Only the driver was in the police jeep. The preliminary conclusion is that he fell asleep as the cause of the accident.
