Two years following the death of the 1 p.m. presenter, she published A Sign of You* (ed. Trédaniel), where she recounts her husband’s last months.
How did you come up with the idea for this new book?
Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut: I know his fans are wondering what happened. He was in great shape and suddenly he died. I wanted to tell them that Jean-Pierre did not die of cancer. He had done everything so that this illness was not taboo; he spoke regarding it to give the sick the strength to fight. I don’t want them to get discouraged.
You reveal that you had a premonition that your husband was going to die before he was 72…
It scared me. I spoke regarding it to my close friends. I hoped to ward off this bad luck. I didn’t see him going beyond 72 years old. And he left a month before his 72nd birthday… I don’t want to make polemics, but he had his first stroke eight days following being injected with the anti-Covid vaccine. Everything in his body went wrong.
Are you saying he’s sending you signs?
Yes, I still feel Jean-Pierre near me. He continues to be generous from up there. Last December 14, our daughter Lou’s birthday, while I was going to my hairdresser, I took the wrong route and found myself in front of the clinic where she was born, at 10:06 a.m., in 2002 It was 10:05 a.m. Crazy!
Aren’t you afraid that many will make fun of you?
I don’t really care.
Almost two years following his death, how are you?
It’s always hard. But I hold on for my children. In December I created my clothing brand Cœur de miss. And in September I will play a nursing home director in a new play.
Would you be ready for another romantic encounter?
Oh, no, I don’t see myself with anyone else!
