LA PLATA.- Despite the recent landing of Serge Massa at the Ministry of Economy, the Governors League Peronists asked yesterday “to resolve the asymmetries in terms of public transport subsidies” and “ratify a path of energy rates compatible with the higher consumption in specific areas of the country”. He did it through a document signed by a dozen provincial leaders who met in La Plata, with Axel Kicillof as host. In the capital of Buenos Aires, they also called for “joining efforts and wills to reduce inflation”.
Anyway, behind closed doors of Kicillof’s residence, the governors analyzed that hehe measures adopted by Massa “are necessary for the moment”.
“The League of Governors and Governors of the Argentine provinces expresses the need to join forces and wills to reduce inflation, sustain economic growth, promote productive employment through the development of value chains in each of our economies. regional and improve the disposable income of Argentine families”, remarked the leaders in the document.
And they warned: “It is necessary to resolve the asymmetries in terms of public transport subsidies and ratify a path of energy rates compatible with the increased consumption in specific areas of the country”. It’s regarding two foundational demands of this group of governors, which was created when Martín Guzmán was still the Minister of Economy, and which now remains despite the fact that Massa is in charge of the economic area.
In the text, the governors proposed five “concrete measures”: promote a “broad consensus” for the approval of the Budget national 2023; guarantee the “continuity of the programs of public works and houses” in their districts; promote public access to foods at “affordable prices”; reduce the cost of medicines; and transform the social plans in “genuine employment”.
Without Massa or President Alberto Fernández, who had been invited to La Plata but remained in Buenos Aires, the leaders asked to participate in the preparation of the budget 2023. Specifically, they requested “to promote a broad consensus for the approval of the 2023 budget with federal and inclusive criteria in order to prevent the law from being the subject of sectoral disputes or electoral speculation.”
The provincial leaders, who called for unity following acknowledging the difficulties in governing, also asked to promote “the availability for our people of the production of foods Good quality and affordable prices.” Along the same lines, they claimed Greater coordination efforts to transform social plans into genuine employment.

However, the Peronist leaders recognized that “It is not easy to govern in this complex international context”.
The governors of La Rioja arrived to La Plata, Ricardo Quintela; from La Pampa, Sergio Ziliotto; from Tierra del Fuego, Gustavo Melella; from Entre Rios, Gustavo Bordet; from Formosan, Gildo Insfran; from Saint Louis, Alberto Rodríguez Saá; from Tucuman, Osvaldo Jaldo; from Santiago del Estero, Gerardo Zamora; and the lieutenant governor of Santa Cruz, Eugene Quiroga. There were also the leaders of San Juan, Sergio Unac; from Chaco, Jorge Captainich; and the vice governor of Catamarca, Marcel Lima.
Governor Alicia Kirchner did not attend to participate in an opening ceremony for a provincial sports shelter in honor of Malvinas veterans, as reported. The governor of Río Negro Arabela Carreras also had an agenda in her province, La Nacion was informed.
The last meeting of governors had taken place three weeks ago at the Federal Investment Council (CFI), in the city of Buenos Aires, in the midst of a climate of strong internal unrest, which ended at the Casa Rosada in a high-tension meeting politics with Alberto Fernández. That day, the pressure of the governors of the Front of All was key to accelerate the landing of Massa in Economy.
This Friday, in La Plata, not only numbers were discussed to try to meet the fiscal goals. Also on the agenda was domestic politics and election projections of the Front of All by 2023. “This meeting to analyze and evaluate the measures is essential for us,” the Chaco native had said in the previous meeting. Captainichone of the main promoters of La Liga.
During the lunch offered at noon on Friday at the residence of the Buenos Aires governor -which included empanadas and roast-, the provincial chiefs also reviewed the problem of social plans and the Supreme Court of Justice. The host, Kicillof, in turn sought to consolidate his position in this space as a counterweight of the city of Buenos Aires in the map of federal power.
The meeting, which lasted more than three hours, served, according to some of the protagonists, to promote the work that has been carried out on the energy segmentation for the Argentine North, “since the 400Kv established as a subsidy would not be enough to fulfill its mission in our region”, said Capitanich. This president intends that this number be raised to 550Kw as a premise for this segmentation to have a positive impact throughout the Norte Grande (NEA and NOA).
Perhaps the main point of contention between the Peronist governors today is the distribution of transport subsidies: almost 93% of the resources remain in the city and province of Buenos Aires, while the remaining 7% is distributed in the interior.
