In December, cash in circulation continues to rise in 2022 and increases by 10.8% over 12 rolling months. Sight deposits rose sharply in December. In one month, they increased by 33.5 billion dirhams and reached 761 billion dirhams.

Cash in circulation increased further in December 2022. In one month, it increased by 7 billion dirhams (MMDH).

This is what the latest monetary statistics from Bank Al-Maghrib show. Cash in circulation stood at 354.8 billion dirhams at the end of 2022. Over a rolling year, cash in circulation increased by 34.7 billion dirhams or 10.8%.

Strong growth in sight deposits in December

In December, sight deposits with banks rose sharply by 33.5 billion dirhams from one month to the next. They reach 761 billion dirhams. Over 12 rolling months, they increased by 8.9%.

Term deposits, meanwhile, fell by 5% compared to 2021 to 129.6 billion dirhams. From one month to the next, they show an increase of just over 1 billion dirhams.
