IMSS Veracruz Norte performs Vasectomies Day

During the commemoration of Integral Men’s Health Monththe Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in North Veracruz carried out the Vasectomies Day in the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 66, in order to promote sexual and reproductive health.

“Vasectomy without a scalpel is a very noble procedure, since it is an outpatient surgery that consists of ligation of the vas deferens, and it lasts approximately 10 to 15 minutes, in addition to having an effectiveness of more than 99 percent”

“During these days, we programmed 38 surgical procedures to be performed in six days,” said Dr. Miguel Ángel Carreto Vélez, a Family Physician trained in no-scalpel vasectomies.

He added that by using local anesthesia and being very simple, it does not require preoperative studies; Other advantages are that the patient walks out and stays only 30 minutes to recover, it is a permanent birth control and does not interfere with sexual activity.

Juan Luis Jimenez Contrerasa patient who benefited from this procedure, commented that he made this decision following performing family planning and considered that it was the best option, so he invited the other men to perform it.

On the other hand, Luis Manuel Lagunes Trujillobeneficiary beneficiary, stated that he is comfortable with the number of children he has, so he recommends this option to those who are in the same situation.

Likewise, Jesus Morales Martinez He said he was regarding to go to the operating room to have his vasectomy performed, since he thought regarding the well-being of his partner and together they decided that the most convenient thing was to remove the device without running the risk of pregnancy.

Finally, Dr. Carreto Vélez emphasized that this method is highly effectivesince it prevents the passage of sperm and can be done at any time, as long as the man is fully convinced, for which he can request counseling at the Social Security Family Medicine Units (UMF).
