IMSA – Detroit: Sébastien Bourdais still on pole!

Before taking over the management of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Sébastien Bourdais continues to panic the counters in IMSA. The driver of the #01 Cadillac of Chip Ganassi Racing took pole position last night for the Detroit Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2022 season.

Le Manceau, which won a new track record (1’18”818), signed its fourth pole in six races this season, its fifth in IMSA. Alas, until then, the Frenchman and his teammate Renger van der Zande have always experienced misfortunes in the race. And for good reason, despite an undeniable burst of speed, they only finished on the podium once, in Long Beach (California).

Bourdais will have alongside him on the front row Tom Blomqvist (Acura ARX-05 n°60 / Meyer Shank Racing). This is followed by championship leaders Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque (Acura ARX-05 n°10 / Wayne Taylor Racing) and the second DPi-VR from Chip Ganassi Racing, namely the n°02 of Alex Lynn-Earl Bamber. Olivier Pla (Cadillac n°31 / Action Express Racing) and Tristan Vautier (Cadillac n°5 / JDC-Miller MotorSports) complete the top 5.

In GTD, pole position went to Kyle Kirkwood (Lexus RC F GT3 n°17 / VasserSullivan), who will defend the interests of Andretti Autosport in IndyCar next year.
