Islamabad: The police have given permission to arrest Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan in connection with the attack on Jinnah House (Corps Commander’s House) in Lahore on May 9.
Lahore Police had given a report that Imran Khan was involved in the untoward incidents at Jinnah House. Following this, the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court arrested Imran and allowed the police to conduct further investigation.
The court’s new order is a heavy blow to Imran Khan, who was sentenced to three years in prison in the Tosha Khana corruption case. It is indicated that Imran, who is in Attock district jail in Punjab province, may be interrogated by the police soon. However, the police has not made it clear that the arrest will be recorded.
After the arrest of Imran Khan in a corruption case on May 9, there was a nationwide protest led by the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Dozens of military installations and government buildings were damaged in the riots, including the Corps Commander’s House (Jinnah House) in Lahore and the army headquarters in Rawalpindi. More than 100 vehicles belonging to police and other security agencies were set on fire. Following this, the court intervened in the case registered.
