BONN (dpa-AFX) – The total duration of power outages per customer decreased slightly last year. While the average duration of outages per end consumer was still 12.7 minutes in 2021, it fell to 12.2 minutes in 2022, the Federal Network Agency announced on Tuesday in Bonn.

For comparison, in 2006, the average power outages on the medium and low voltage network was still 21.5 minutes. The most recent value is the second lowest since 2006. In 2020, it was 10.7 minutes. “The German electricity supply remains very reliable,” said authority president Klaus Müller.

Network operators report annually on all unplanned supply interruptions which are not due to force majeure and which last more than three minutes. In 2022, according to the Bundesnetzagentur, 855 network operators transmitted a total of 157,245 supply interruptions at low and medium voltage. The number of interruption messages decreased by approximately 9,300 messages compared to 2021.

The average duration of interruptions varied from one Land to another. It was significantly above average in Brandenburg (19.2 minutes) and Thuringia (18.1 minutes), significantly lower in Saxony (6.3 minutes) and Saarland (6.1 minutes)./tob/DP /jha
