Improving Fan Experience and Facilities at Heidi Horten Arena: Goal Siren, Flags, Banners, and More

2023-10-06 10:01:30

The goal siren, championship and goal flags and banners will be reinstalled. Fan clubs are provided with accommodation for equipment for home and away games. The exact implementation will be determined during a joint inspection in the ice rink.

On Friday, Mayor Christian Scheider, together with sports officer Mag. Franz Petritz, invited representatives of the authorities, professional fire brigade, trade fair, fan clubs and the EC KAC to a round table in the town hall. After the ice hockey season got underway in the new Heidi Horten Arena, the fan clubs formulated requests for improvements, which ultimately reached the mayor in an open letter.

“Ice hockey in particular thrives on an active fan culture. This has grown at the KAC for decades and is truly exemplary. It is therefore important to me to take the concerns of the fan clubs seriously and to implement a common solution as soon as possible.”

Specifically, the fan clubs want to fill the modern new hall with more life. The goal siren, championship and goal flags and banners should hang again. A place to store supplies for home games and away trips is also needed. The authorities, politicians, trade fair and EC KAC agreed that these concerns can be taken into account. The prerequisite is compliance with fire protection and official requirements.

A joint inspection of the ice rink has been scheduled for next Friday. The exact implementation options should then be determined there and the necessary costs should then be collected. The mayor and sports officer have already promised the city to contribute financially. The state of Carinthia also has state governor Dr. Peter Kaiser announced co-financing.

“As far as we can, we offer a solution to fan concerns that can be implemented step by step.”
Sports advisor, city councilor Mag. Franz Petritz

The fan clubs announced that they also wanted to make a contribution. Because their ranks include numerous professionals such as electricians, painters and graffiti artists. The latter could also soon come into action in the creative design of outdoor areas around the ice rink. Here, the trade fair, together with the fan clubs, wants to provide creative, stylish works of art in selected locations that fit the theme of ice hockey and the Red Jackets.
