WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that allows users to send original quality photos as well as less compressed videos. This option finally offers the possibility of sending images in high quality on the instant messaging platform. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (the parent company of WhatsApp), announced this update through a video posted on Facebook.

The image upload quality option is easily accessible from the editing toolbar following selecting a photo from the smartphone gallery. This option is being rolled out gradually to all users. In the future, Meta also plans to deploy a similar function for sending videos in HD.

However, sending high definition videos is limited due to the weight of videos captured by smartphones, especially those in 4K resolution. Currently, WhatsApp only allows sending videos in HD with a maximum resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, even if the video has a higher resolution such as 1080 x 1920 pixels or 2160 x 3840 pixels.

In recent months, WhatsApp has chained updates to meet user demands. Recently, Meta introduced a beta feature to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts in one app. Also, a few weeks ago, another long-awaited feature was added, allowing you to connect a WhatsApp account on multiple smartphones simultaneously.
