Improved legibility of the expiry date for medicines and food is urgently needed

Vienna (OTS) The Viennese regional organization of the Austrian Pensioners’ Association (PVÖ) calls for an urgent revision of the labeling of expiry dates for medicines and food. The design, which is currently often difficult to read, can pose a challenge, especially for seniors.

Harry Copytz, Vienna State President of the PVÖ, emphasizes: “We demand ‘larger’ and ‘bold’ typeface in order to avoid possible health risks from the consumption of expired products. This change would not only benefit older people, but would make it easier for all consumers to identify fresh and safe products.”

The Pensioners’ Association appeals to manufacturers and the responsible regulatory authorities to revise and apply the guidelines for labeling accordingly. Consumer health should always come first, and clear expiration date labeling is an important step in that direction.
