The Public Prosecution ordered the detention of financial services control officials in the municipality of Wardamah, in the suburbs of Al-Bayda, pending investigation on charges of squandering public money.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that the investigation revealed the fact that employees abused the powers of the jobs assigned to them, and they are the controller, the one in charge of the administration of administrative affairs, the audit official in the control and the economic controller in the municipality, as they deliberately falsified data and official documents to achieve illegal material benefits for themselves and others.
The office added that the defendants deliberately paid salaries to people who had no connection to the public office. Enabling other people to collect sums of money as salaries despite the absence of a functional bond, as well as granting bonuses to employees without the support of the law, and repeating the payment of salaries to some employees several times in order to allow them to obtain illegal benefits.
