Imports grow by 19% under the raw materials regime

Acquisitions registered under this incentive amounted to more than USD 299 million in the first nine months of the year, 19% above what was obtained in the same period of 2023.

In its latest report, the Vice Ministry indicated that, as for the month of September, the regime of authorized imports of raw materials and inputs amounted to a total of USD 17 million. While some 106 industries imported through this incentive and some 334 product acquisition requests were authorized in just the ninth month of the year.

In the accumulated amount, from January to September, the amount of imports reached USD 299 million, of which 76% of input acquisitions were from China, with 90% participation; followed by India, with 9%, and the United States, with 7%. However, the document points out that to a lesser extent there are also Japan, Türkiye, Spain, among other parts of the world.

In relation to the sectors in which imported inputs belong, the Vice Ministry indicates that 73% is concentrated in the categories of metal, chemical and pharmaceutical products.

Likewise, there are the manufacturing segments of tobacco products, paper and printing products, food and beverages, among other items, reported the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC).

Likewise, at the end of September some 254 companies benefited, 3% more than what was registered in the same period last year. Of this total of companies, the participation of the metallurgical, chemical and pharmaceutical, rubber and plastics, food and beverages, and textile sectors stands out.

It is worth mentioning that 90% of these industries are located in the Central departments, with 77%, and Alto Paraná, with 13%.

Meanwhile, as of September, 4,111 import requests were authorized, which represents an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2023, when there were 3,527 requests.
