Army Chief General Asim Munir while expressing good wishes on the occasion of the United Nations Foundation Day said that the armed forces of Pakistan are following the principles of the United Nations Charter.
As the 78th Foundation Day of the United Nations is being celebrated today, Pakistan’s armed forces have a long history of peacekeeping service with the United Nations.
Pakistan joined the United Nations peacekeeping mission on 30 September 1947 and deployed its first contingent to UN operations in the Congo in 1969.
Pakistan has participated in 48 joint missions with more than 230,000 troops in 29 countries of the world and 170 soldiers including 24 officers have sacrificed their lives in UN peacekeeping missions.
Chief of the Armed Forces of Pakistan General Asim Munir expressed his best wishes on the occasion of the 78th Foundation Day of the United Nations.
In his message, the Army Chief said that Pakistan has a unique history of serving under the UN flag to achieve a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world, a mandate duly protected by several resolutions of the UN Security Council to the international community on this day. We must not forget the shared responsibility to fulfill the collective promise to Kashmiris for the right to vote.
General Asim Munir said that the armed forces of Pakistan are following the principles of the United Nations Charter, we are trying to make the world a better place for future generations according to the vision of the elders, no matter what the cost.
