In the 14th International Regatta organized by the Alexandroupolis Nautical Club under the auspices of the Hellenic Sailing Federation, from July 18 – 21 in the distant Alexandroupolis, the delegation of I.O. Patras in the Optimist and ILCA4 categories and competed with athletes from 6 countries, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Ukraine.
The athletes of the Group, Argyros Ioannis and Filippos Koutsouropoulos in the ILCA4 category and Argyros Leonidas, Karakapilidis Iordanis, Koutsouropoulos Panagiotis and Matthaiopoulos Marios in the Optimist category, found themselves in unspoiled Thrace, sailed in the waters of the Thracian Sea and gained valuable experience from a real international race with good athletes, accompanied by the IOP coach, Giorgos Hatzikonstantinou.
The athlete of our Club, Iordanis Karakapilidis, distinguished himself as the youngest athlete in the International Regatta.
The race was preceded by two training camps, one for ILCA4 boats organized by the Hellenic Sailing Federation and NOA, with Croatian coach of the ILCA class Luka Radelic and Olympian Tasos Boudouris and one for Optimist organized by NOA with coach Nikitas Kehagioglou .
