The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified on the notification of the closure of the social networking website ‘X’ that the Ministry of Interior has not withdrawn the notification related to the closure.
On behalf of PTA, lawyer Ali Faisal filed a revision petition in the Sindh High Court requesting the court to withdraw or modify the order. Deputy Director La PTA Ali Akbar Sohto and lawyer Ahsan Imam submitted affidavits.
Deputy Director La PTA said that the Ministry of Interior has not withdrawn the notification regarding the closure, the notification regarding the closure of X is still there, while the statement of withdrawal of the notification of the Ministry of Interior was issued on the basis of misunderstanding. .

In his affidavit, Ali Akbar Sohto said that many cases of PTA are scheduled for hearing on daily basis, due to the pressure of the cases, mistakes were made unintentionally.
PTA has also requested for an immediate hearing of the application.
It should be noted that during the hearing of the case regarding the closure of ‘X’ in the Sindh High Court on September 12, the lawyers of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority appeared to be hesitant regarding the closure, where one of the lawyers requested to withdraw the closure notification. If confirmed, the other had expressed ignorance of it.
It should be remembered that on February 17 this year, the Ministry of Interior had imposed a ban on X, after which local journalist Ehtesham Abbasi filed a petition in the High Court against the ban.
Its service was partially restored several times during the last few months but could not be made fully operational.
