With more than 6,500 applications, 2021 was an absolute record year for the heating exchange offensive in Styria. And the trend continues. A new record is already emerging in the first quarter of the current year: an 80 percent increase in applications compared to the first quarter of the previous year poses major challenges for specialist companies that carry out the heating replacement. Therefore, at the request of the Climate Protection Minister Ursula Lackner in the state government decided that the people of Styria should have more time to install a new, climate-friendly heating system.
Implementation deadline is extended
For all applications that have been submitted since January 1, 2021, the implementation period will be retrospectively extended to 18 months. “In this way, we ensure that all people who have applied for funding and are in the middle of replacing the heating system will receive the funding in full – even if there is a delay due to a shortage of skilled workers or materials,” says die state councillor.
This is how the heating exchange promotion works
- Step 1: Application for funding and implementation
Applicants for funding register before replacing the heating system. This means that the funds are reserved for the replacement of the heating system. They now have 18 months (previously 9 months) to complete the work. - Step 2: Completion and Withdrawal
Once the heating system has been replaced, the subsidy is paid out.
Up to 100 percent of the exchange costs are covered
Up to 10,100 euros are available for heating exchange subsidies for Styrians, with up to 100 percent of the exchange costs being covered for those on low incomes. “We can only succeed in breaking our dependency on fossil fuels if all Styrians have the opportunity to switch. Because climate protection must not depend on the wallet!” Lackner is determined. More information is available online.
