Impeachment of the Court: JxC seeks to corner Massa so that he defines his position

On the eve of the debut of the impeachment commission in which the ruling party will initiate the accusation for poor performance once morest members of the Supreme Courtthe Juntos por el Cambio interblock brought together its representatives in the body to unify and fine-tune the strategy that will lead to the debate.

Among the cards that Together for Change will put into play to dismantle the Government’s initiative once morest the Judiciary, They will summon the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, as a witness to whiten his position on the Court, in a clear attempt to “arrinconarlo” on an issue that bothers him so much in terms of economic management -given the business sector warnings– like in the Internal Front of All.

It is known that requests for impeachment generated rejection in corporate environment, where they alert regarding an alleged impact on the legal security of investments in a country where judicial arbitrations of the highest instance are questioned. That might generate turbulence in economic management of a minister who must sustain fragile balances with the different players in the market.

In addition, the impeachment of the Court will prevent projects from advancing priority for the economic portfolio such as the money laundering law.

That is why the summons to Massa is not fortuitous but has the clear political intentionality to put the official between a rock and a hard place. In this way, they seek to drive a wedge into the Front Renovatorwhere doubts still persisted due to the silence of the head of the space.

In any case, the massistas that make up the Political Judgment commission, Micaela Morán and Ramiro Gutiérrez, will not detach themselves from the line lowered by the ruling party to accuse the judges.

The opposition will propose the citation of Pedro’s “Wado”

They also propose that the Minister of the Interior, Edward “Wado” of Peterin coincidence with the Frente de Todos that will also summon him as a witness.

They also participated in the meeting behind closed doors other legislative referents of the different blocks of JxC but that do not integrate the commission such as Fabio Quetglas (UCR), Ricardo López Murphy (United Republicans), Karina Banfi (UCR), Miguel Bazze (UCR), Carlos Zapata (Ahora Patria) and Fernando Carbajal (UCR).

During the course of the meeting, there was a repeated complaint regarding the decision of Carolina Gaillard to put the commission to work for the first time to analyze this impeachment request to the Court when dozens of projects had already been piling up in the same sense, some of them once morest President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Kirchner.

Mario Negri defined the political trial as “a great circus”

As Negri pointed out at the end of the meeting, from the Frente de Todos “They intend to create a great circus” so that “no talk regarding how the Government and Massa are doing with inflation”, and also to cover up the sentence to Cristina Kirchner for public works and the Hotesur cause.

The position of Together for Change will not vary with respect to what had already transpired: they will not give a quorum but they will present themselves to give the debate when the ruling party has obtained the number to enable the debate in commission.

“The government’s proposal is a political and legal jerk that fades into itself. We are going to demonstrate it in the commission with absolute seriousness. The impeachment request is absolutely unsustainable, it has no legal consistency,” said the Cordovan in dialogue with the accredited press.

Trial of the Supreme Court: the political battle to judge the magistrates begins

For Negri, this impeachment process is the “launch of the political campaign of the Frente de Todos for the election year”.

For its part, Lospennato “this attempt by Kirchnerism to initiate the impeachment of the Supreme Court is part of this battle to try to install the lawfare story, seeking impunity for the vice president”.

In any case, the official clarified -confidently- that this initiative of the ruling party “does not have any possibility of prospering, because Kirchnerism does not have two thirds for the removal“, although he agreed with Negri that “they are going to try to sustain it in a kind of political circus.”

López, meanwhile, assured: “We cannot leave Congress alone when the agenda of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner is to destroy the head of the Judiciary because They do not like that the Court is independentbecause they did not like two rulings, but also because they want to discredit it in the future”.

The president of the bench that responds to the leadership of Elisa Carrion On the other hand, he indicated that they are not going to withdraw the request for impeachment once morest the judge of the Court Ricardo Lorenzetti introduced five years ago.

“But we do not trust that the ruling party wants to go once morest Lorenzetti, with Lorenzetti they always negotiate,” he warned. “We are not going to negotiate with Lorenzetti or with the government and in any case, if the possibility arises, we will have our own accusation,” he graphed.
