Apple launches a new version of iMovie on iPhone and iPad. Even simpler and more fun, this update makes video editing accessible to everyone.
Last night, Apple offered for download a new version of its native application for video editing. iMovie 3.0 introduces two new features that make the exercise even easier and more fun for increasingly convincing results: Magic Movie and Storyboards.
Magic Movie
The first novelty is intended for novices and beginners in video editing. Functionality Magic Movie is aimed at people who are not at all familiar with video creation since it allows in a few clicks to make a clip with transitions, text and animations in one click.
Getting started with this new feature is very intuitive. To create a clip, simply choose from the multiple albums pre-installed in the application. Then, we pick from the photo/video album and you’re done. To personalize the set, it is possible to choose its titles, types of transitions, animations, music, etc. Of course, we can define the length of the shots. For each modification, the content adapts automatically.
Story-boards
For users more fond of creativity and freedom, iMovie integrates the function Storyboards. As the name suggests, it’s regarding building a story from pre-established structures. The application offers 20 different storyboards depending on the type of video desired (unboxing, tutorial, vlog, cooking, etc.).
Each storyboard offers a narrative framework with the types of shots to be shot (very wide-angle, close-up, etc.). For each montage, iMovie gives tips for filming, titles, transitions. All these graphic elements can also be integrated in a very simple way by drawing from several styles.
Like with Magic Movie, each style is customizable and the whole video then adapts to the chosen style. It is also possible to integrate your own styles created beforehand. Everything can be accompanied by music that is retrieved in the Music application.
Split in 16:9
All projects can be shared via AirDrop or any other sharing method in a 16:9 aspect ratio only. Sharing with a vertical format is not available. Supported files are up to 8K resolution. Projects can also be reworked on Mac in the iMovie application (which does not recover these features) or Final Cut Pro.
These new features are exclusively for iOS and iPadOS versions. The iMovie 3.0 update is currently available in the App Store. For more information, you can also consult the site internet d’Apple.
