Immigration circumstances turned him into a Zupperman

Hossam Halawa, felt that he had lost a lot of his powers on his journey from Syria to a number of Arab countries before arriving in Europe. Then he transformed from Superman to Zupperman.

Overnight, life changed Hossam HalawaPhotographer and art director, at all levels. He started his life from scratch in countries foreign to him, and despite his education, skills and even energy, he had to adapt in a new place that he did not know anything regarding, “and I became something else other than what I am.” He wanted to document his journey with his lens, and Zupperman was the tool.

This character represents every young man who goes through his experience, on his journey to another country. Husam describes the stages of migration, especially the dangers he is exposed to, and focuses on the approved illegal routes, the exploitation of the traveler, “to the extent that it becomes normal.” This is in addition to the language barrier in case you do not master it, and the search for work. However, this comic character that he created is, on the one hand, as a psychotherapy for him, and on the other hand it is a way of expressing and showing the “colored side” of the story, because the world is kind of tired of listening to such stories in such a dramatic way.
