The shooting decision from the responsible Bludenz district authority will be issued on Wednesday.

On Wednesday night, a wolf was spotted in the Bludenz area in a densely populated area.

According to a management plan anchored in the Vorarlberg Hunting Act, appropriate immediate measures are now being taken, the state informs in a press release. This includes informing the population and calling on them to avoid or eliminate possible sources of food (e.g. organic waste bags and the like).

The shooting order from the responsible Bludenz district authority will also be issued today.

Wallner: “We won’t stand idly by”

“The safety of the population is the top priority. There can be zero tolerance here. We don’t stand idly by, we act quickly and consistently,” said State Governor Wallner and State Councilor Gantner in a broadcast on Wednesday. The wolf has no place in the dense settlement area, says the state governor.

The President of the Chamber of Agriculture, Josef Moosbrugger, reacts similarly: “I am not prepared to accept that wolves roam through settlements at night. The wolf must learn that proximity to people and farm animals means danger to them, otherwise we will have a development that can no longer be controlled “said Moosbrugger in a press release.
