The game of cat and mouse between Apple and Beeper Mini continues, and as the game progresses, Apple draws its claws dangerously closer to Beeper. After trying in vain to rely on his users’ Apple account, Eric Migicovsky found a new solution to maintain the integration of iMessage with his Android app.

In an email sent today to his customers, the entrepreneur explains that Apple manages to block Beeper Mini users because of (or thanks to, depending on your point of view) their registration data:
When you sign in to iMessage on Beeper, we need to send credentials called “registration data” from a real Mac. Until now, we used our own fleet of Mac servers for this. Unfortunately, it became an easy target for Apple because thousands of Beeper users were using the same registration data.
The solution found by Beeper consists of relying instead on “legitimate” Macs, that is to say those of its users. “We will release an update for Beeper Cloud tomorrow [une autre version du service, qui est disponible sur Mac, NDLR] which will generate unique registration data specifically for youexpose Eric Migicovsky. This 1:1 match between registration data and individual users makes the connection very reliable, according to our tests. »
The publisher plans to release the source code for its gateway to iMessage as well as the Mac program that generates the recording data. Although it is data “registration”, these must be regenerated periodically, from once a week to once a month. Consequently, the Mac on which this registration is carried out must be turned on regularly. This risks making things particularly complicated for unfortunate Beeper users who don’t have a Mac and who will have to find a friend to help them out.
In fact, according to the publisher, ten to twenty iMessage users can use ” safely “ the same registration data. This leaves the possibility to the Mac user official of the group to unblock all those close to him, but we wonder if Apple will not end up tightening the screw on this side as well. In the end, will you need to have an iPhone to use Beeper?
