Imec, a Belgian nanoelectronics research and technology institute, has launched an open access version of its virtual chip factory “imec.netzero”. The tool provides a quantified view of the environmental impact of integrated circuit manufacturing, providing valuable information to academics, policymakers, designers and semiconductor manufacturers. With the release of this free web application, Imec intends to support the industry in reducing its environmental impact, beyond the semiconductor supply chain.
