Abdollahian stressed, “Although we have strategic, brotherly and deep relations with Iraq, we clearly expressed our protest on this issue, and we summoned the Iraqi ambassador to Tehran to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to emphasize the sensitivity of the Iranian people towards the use of the exact and complete term for the Persian Gulf and the declaration.” to the Iraqi side.

On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, said that Tehran had taken the necessary measures regarding the incident of using the name “Arabian Gulf” instead of the name “Persian Gulf.”
