The frenzy was palpable at the entrance to the Plains on Friday followingnoon for the second evening of the FEQ, when thousands of festival-goers were already packed in, eager to reconnect with Imagine Dragons, which will attempt to give a complete show for the first time on three occasions.

During its first visit to the festival in 2019, the American formation had to end the concert following a few songs due to a violent storm, the troupe had promised to return very soon to tread the boards of the FEQ.

As promised, Dan Reynolds and his band were back as one of the festival’s headliners the following year, in 2020, before the show was canceled due to the pandemic.
Many have therefore made sure to arrive very early on Friday, in order to be in the front row for this show which is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated of this 55th edition.
“It’s the third take, there was no chance we’d miss it,” said Guillaume Vallière, who arrived at 8:30 this morning to make sure he was at the front of the stage.
“I got chills as soon as I saw their name on the lineup. It’s going to be a crazy show following four years of waiting, I think people are really excited,” adds Sophie Castonguay, impatient at the idea of finally being able to see her favorite group.
There was still some fear among festival-goers since a watch of violent thunderstorms still stalked the city late Friday followingnoon.
“We are running away from it for the moment, but we are starting to stress quietly. It is certain that I cry if the show is still canceled”, confided a teenager who had been waiting for a few hours already.

Endless wait
Festival-goers had to be patient the day before, when the festival kicked off: some waited more than an hour before being able to enter the site when the temperature felt was approaching 40 degrees.

“It was ridiculous, I took the trouble to arrive a little earlier to queue, but we kept getting passed further, so we never moved forward,” says Jessie Morin.
“It was really painful to have to wait so long in the big sun to finally miss the start of the show. I hope it won’t be like that throughout the festival because it’s going to be very ordinary,” added another festival-goer.

Contacted by The newspaper early Friday followingnoon, the organization of the Festival d’été de Québec confirmed that it had put itself into solution mode the same evening, in order to resolve this problem quickly.

“It was day one for everyone. The important thing is that we did not wait and that we corrected the situation quickly. We are confident that everything will be fine tonight and for the rest of the festival, “says the side of the FEQ.
If improvements have been made to the level of waiting, this will unfortunately not be the case for the water stations, while the organization specifies that it has already done its utmost to facilitate hydration on the site.
“We have added around thirty additional water fountains compared to last year, so we are really at full capacity of what we can do at this level”, concluded the organization.
