All of the new JWST images were previously announced for release on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. It was then announced at short notice that US President Joe Biden would have the honor of presenting the first JWST infrared image one day earlier, on July 11, 2022 at 11:00 p.m. CEST. In fact, it was unveiled by him and former astronaut and NASA Administrator Bill Nelson on July 12, just following midnight our time.
