“I’m super shocked”: A candidate for “Top Chef” can’t take Paul Pairet’s remark

Great gourmands abstain! This Monday evening in Top Boss, it was time for guilty pleasures. In the first part of the show, the candidates still in the running had to delight the palates of three celebrities, Joey Starr, Nora Hamzaoui and Pablo Mira, by transforming three guilty pleasures that they love into real gastronomic feats.

The NTM member is the first to participate in the exercise. For him, two pairs compete over melted cheese. Léon and Jacques from the orange brigade form a duo while Mathieu and Alexandre represent the blue brigade. “Processed cheese, yeah…it lifts me up. The smell, the crackling… It’s as much olfactory as it is visual. Here, we are talking regarding impulselance Joey Starr. Anything is possible with cheese. I can’t wait to see what they come up with. I’m ready to be picked off.

“I do not know where I am”

Passing by the members of his brigade, Paul Pairet does not seem convinced by the idea of Léon and Jacques, namely… “It will not work”, he says straight away. “You will end up with a very airy foam. You won’t have enough textures in your mousse. When you put in your charcoal, the moss will go away. She will stick.

Leon has trouble digesting the remark. “I collecthe says facing the camera. I’m super shocked because I thought it was madness that he was going to like. So I don’t know what to think anymore. I do not know where I am. I’m lost. I was pretty sure of the thing and now I don’t know where I’m going.

He pursues : “I have a lot of pressure in everyday life and on this competition even more so. It’s linked to what I was able to experience because I didn’t just have easy times in the kitchen. There was a boss who pulled me down a lot and made me realize that I was worthless and who belittled me. Except that since then, it’s not necessarily obvious. I’m always afraid of disappointing, of releasing something lame and that’s not a pleasant feeling.

Leon, do you have blood or do you have no blood?”, launches Paul Pairet before hearing with astonishment that the candidate feels “taken aback”. The three-starred chef kindly lectures him. “Don’t get confused when people question what you’re doing”, he says. “I warn you regarding coal. Me, the way you describe it to me, it doesn’t work.

Supported by Jacques, his partner, Léon still keeps the idea of coal but decides to use it differently. Unfortunately, the tarte flambée with munster without munster presented by the duo convinced Joey Starr and François-Régis Gaudry less than the croquette of Matthieu and Alexandre. “There is no suspense in fact, the second proposal!”, launches the singer.

Fortunately for Léon, the second test, namely preparing a dessert that will satisfy the five senses – a step during which pastry chef Yann Couvreur noted, in the famous “white box” the different dishes according to their smell, their sound, their visuals, their texture and their taste – was more conclusive. Big winner of the latter, the candidate of the purple brigade qualified for the next week of Top Boss. This event, however, ended in the elimination of Jacques who definitively lost his place in the culinary competition following the final face-to-face with the “survivor” of the secret brigade, Danny Khezzar.
