POSCO Chemical, a subsidiary of POSCO Group’s secondary battery materials, started a large-scale career recruitment. Public officials and employees of other large corporations are looking for career positions at the company, which hires 350 people this year alone. Management support selects jobs such as management strategy, financial planning, accounting, IR planning, etc. Applicants who have completed military service with a bachelor’s degree of 4 or more years or who are exempt from military service are eligible for application.

Recruitment is selected through a personality test, 1st practical interview, and 2nd executive interview. A POSCO Chemical official said, “For this large-scale recruitment, we want to actively select people with appropriate qualifications for each field rather than a target number of people.”

The company, which hired 449 people in 2019, 252 people in 2020, and 395 people last year, plans to hire regarding 350 people within this year through the recruitment of experienced workers. As the size of the recruitment increased, the number of employees of the company also increased significantly. At the end of last year, the number of employees stood at 2025, an increase of regarding 600 compared to 2018 (1,404). The proportion of young employees in their 20s also increased. Until 2018, the proportion of employees under the age of 30 stood at only 10.3%, but it surged from 17.8% in 2019 and 18.9% in 2020 to 27.0% last year. This means that 1 in 4 people is in their 20s.

This influx of manpower goes hand in hand with the rapid growth of the company. The company’s operating profit in the second quarter of this year was 55.2 billion won, up 55.1% from the same period last year. The performance far exceeded the market estimate (33 billion won) and, of course, is the highest ever. A large-scale supply contract with the company that makes secondary battery materials is also ongoing.
