“I’m gay”: Iker Casillas’ Twitter account apparently hacked

Spanish goalkeeper legend Iker Casillas’ Twitter account read “I’m gay” on Sunday followingnoon. The supposed outing is likely to have been the work of hackers. The tweet was deleted following an hour.

“I hope you respect me: I’m gay,” read a tweet on the 41-year-old’s account on Sunday followingnoon with the hashtag “Happy Sunday”. He immediately received numerous encouraging and applauding reactions.

However, some were skeptical from the start as to whether it was really an outing or whether the former Spanish international goalkeeper might not have been hacked. This skepticism was confirmed less than an hour later. The tweet was then deleted.

Puyol: “Time to tell our story”

Apparently, Casillas wasn’t the only ex-pro whose account was hacked. Around ten minutes following Casillas’ tweet, the account of his former national team colleague Carles Puyol replied: “It’s time we tell our story, Iker.” Behind it was a heart and a kiss emoji.

Casillas was married to Spanish journalist Sara Carbonero until 2021 and has two sons with her.
