I’m afraid to use or drink water… The largest increase in water supply in 17 years

Due to the increase in public rates, the price of water supply has risen the most in 17 years.

According to the National Statistical Office, the water supply price index last month was 109.5, up 4.6% from a year ago, recording the largest increase since January 2006.

This is due to the fact that local governments have raised water tariffs one following another for reasons such as rising production costs.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government raised the rate for household water use by 20.8% from January, and Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do also raised it by 18%.

Along with this, the price index of bottled water recorded 109.24, up 7.1% over the past month.

This is the highest increase in 11 years and 7 months since July 2011, and this is because the factory price of bottled water has risen due to an increase in the price of reheated plastic bottles and other items and a rise in labor costs.
