“I’m a big guy, but many people think I’m quite overweight” – Ádám Martin is not afraid of anyone or anything

The online magazine dealing with international football was curious about the real face of Ádám Martin, who gained huge popularity at the 2024 European Championship, so it published a meaningful article about the striker of the Hungarian national team who is playing in Greece.

The writing of SPORTbible revives the career of Ádám Martin from the 2,000-strong Forráskút right from the beginning. They mention that he met his wife in high school, and since then they have had two children.

“I always feel the love of people when I come home, how proud they are of me. I’m a country boy and always will be. This is where I started my life” he said.

Ádám became better known to the world at the 2024 summer European Championship, when he came on as a substitute in the Hungarian national team’s first match against Switzerland. A part of the internet mocked the 29-year-old striker because of his physique and physical abilities, but at the same time he was the most wanted player on the Transfermarkt site on the second day of the European Championship.

After two months, Ádám is not bothered by the negative voices.

“I’m quite a big guy, but a lot of people think I’m quite overweight. Fortunately, the numbers show otherwise” Ádám told SPORTbible.

For most of his career, the striker struggled with assessing his physical abilities, and two years ago even the captain of the Hungarian national team, Marco Rossi, said that he would only invite him to the team if he improved his “physical parameters”. But now, by his own admission, he is ready to take his place on the international stage.

Ádám describes himself as an extremely calm, humble person who does not like the limelight, but nevertheless always stops to chat and take photos with his fans. However, he said “on the pitch, I like to think I’m a brave and tough guy who’s not afraid of anything or anyone”.

If someone had asked Ádám in 2020 whether he would be a member of the squad selected for the 2024 European Championship, he would have answered with a clear no.

Ádám Martin was announced by Astérasz Tripolis

Astérasz Tripoli, a member of the Greek Football League, announced the signing of Ádám Martin on their official website.

“I used to be an average footballer who had the potential and the ability to score goals, but that stayed with me for a long time, so I couldn’t stand out. However, things changed at the start of the 2021-2022 season” he recalled.

For Ádám, the season spent at Paks brought the real breakthrough, when he became the top scorer in the OTP Bank League with 31 goals in 32 games, and he became the first player to score more than 30 goals in the Hungarian league since 1980.

After the season, Ádám looked set to move to England, Luton Town, who won promotion to the Premier League with a play-off win over Coventry. The transfer ultimately failed because the Hungarian striker did not receive a work permit.

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t join the team due to employment regulations” said Adam. “England is my dream to this day. I would go to England on foot if an offer came from the Championship.

“The many duels and the fans in England attract me. With my style of play, many one-on-one situations would be ideal” he brushed.

After the news about Luton, he surprised many when he decided to accept an offer from K League 1 Ulsan HD, where he also won the Korean Championship with the team.

Ádám Martin will cut his beard, if they make it to the World Cup, they will already be stopped for joint photos in Greece

Pledge to!

However, after the Asian adventure, he would like to prove himself again in Europe, he moved to Greece, to the Asteras Tripolis team, to look for new challenges.

“I want to show that I can put up good numbers in different leagues. But there is also the 2026 World Cup, and it would be a dream come true for me if I could play for Hungary” Adam said
