Ikea launched its first “low carbon” delivery operation to its customers in Paris on Wednesday, by river on the Seine and then by road with electric vehicles.

The Swedish company plans to expand the river link with the opening in 2026 of a new distribution center on the Seine, at the port of Limay, in the Yvelines. Each of these “boxes” can contain up to 13 commands. By January, Ikea is aiming for 35 cases to be unloaded each morning, which will represent 455 orders per day.
