Hangeul Wall (2024), a 22-meter-high large-scale public artwork by Ik-Joong Kangwas unveiled at the Korean Cultural Center New York on September 25, alongside his retrospective exhibition, We Are Connectedwhich delves into his 40 years of creative journey. The monumental 22-meter-high work, Hangeul Wallinstalled in the new building of the Korean Cultural Center New York, centers on the theme ”Things I Love to Talk About.“ The artwork brings together works from 1,000 participants across more than 50 countries and encapsulates the core values of the artist’s oeuvre: “Love, hope, and human connection.”

We Are Connected is on view until November 7, featuring Throw Everything Together and Add (1984–1996), a collection of 6,000 3-inch canvases, on public display for the first time in 30 years since being acquired by the Whitney Museum of American Art. Additionally, the exhibition includes 1392 Moon Jar (2008–2010), part of the Guggenheim Museum‘s collection, offering a comprehensive look at some of Kang’s most representative works in one place.
