With less frenzy than for the mayoral elections, because it is an election with a second round, little by little the candidates for regional governor are taking shape in the area.
To the candidate for reelection for the PS, Óscar Crisóstomo; The UDI activist, Cristóbal Jardua, has joined so far; the republican, Jorge Luis Sánchez; and the current regional councilor, Cristian Quilodrán, is collecting signatures to compete as independents; and the now former director of Planning of the regional MOP, Ignacio Marín.
The latter announced that he will definitely go for the regional seat, and to do so, he resigned from the position he held in the Ñublensina district.
“The time has come to take a different path in my professional life. With deep gratitude for the opportunity to have served my country and my region through my work in the Ministry of Public Works, I have made the decision to resign from my position, to dedicate myself completely to being a candidate for regional governor,” he said. Marín, who already competed in 2021, reaching third place in voting, with more than 22 thousand votes.
“During my time as Director of Planning at the Ministry of Public Works, I have had the privilege of contributing to the development of my country and my region. However, at this time, I feel that my contribution can be even more significant by focusing on the economic development of the region, especially through strengthening the agricultural sector, creating jobs and fighting crime and insecurity that plague our community. Currently, I am immersed in the Electoral Service process to collect the necessary signatures before officially registering my candidacy on July 29. “This is an important step in my commitment to the future of our region, and I am fully dedicated to this task,” he stated.
He added: “I deeply appreciate the support and trust provided during my time at the Ministry, and I hope to have the support of the community in this new stage of public service. “Together, we can build a more prosperous and secure future for all.”
Supports
Although Ignacio Marín began his political life as a member of the Democratic Revolution, following internal differences he resigned from the community.
Today he is independent, however, very close to the PPD and the senator, Loreto Carvajal, who would support his candidacy.
“I have decided to run as a candidate for regional governor of Ñuble due to my firm conviction that our region can and must improve. Currently, Ñuble faces serious challenges in critical areas, such as economic development, job creation, health, and most alarmingly, security. These deficits have placed us in an unfavorable position compared to the rest of the country, especially when it comes to poverty and unemployment rates. I sincerely believe that we can do things better. For this reason, I make myself available to the Ñublensinos to lead a process of significant change in the region. My goal is to start a transformation process that allows Ñuble to move forward and overcome these challenges,” he stated.
Regarding those who support him, he maintained that “it is no mystery that I am a person very close to Senator Loreto Carvajal, I have the support of many authorities in the region. Although it is not the time to specify who these authorities are, I can assure you that once we have the candidacy registered, this support will be made explicit.”
He stressed that “the time to act is now. Our region needs committed leadership and a clear vision to guide us toward a more prosperous future. Together, we can turn Ñuble into an example of progress and security for all of Chile.”
