In Industry, Building, Energy, Automotive or of course Aeronautics, electrical engineering is increasingly present and sophisticated. And to manage it, the IGE+XAO group has been designing, producing and marketing for more than 35 years CAD and life cycle management (PLM) software finely developed to meet the needs of these manufacturers and allow them to integrate into the better the innovations of their electrical systems. “Without even talking regarding electric planes, planes are electrifying and will become more electrified, from controls to taxiing, including their connectivity. However, the more the electrical power is deployed in the devices, the more the wiring is present. This creates more complexity during the design and during the maintenance of aircraft, explains Rodolphe Héliot, CEO of IGE+XAO. It is to manage this complexity of our customers that we are developing increasingly intelligent and immersive software. »
Innovate to support major manufacturers and new players
They design this software for historical manufacturers, such as Airbus, but also for new entrants to the aeronautics market, which today are largely focused on the electrification of the plane.
“Nevertheless, their requirements are different,” stresses Rodolphe Héliot. The PLMs that we develop are generally fairly heavy systems to deploy and are suitable for organizations and industrial structures such as those of a giant like Airbus. But aeronautical start-ups do not have a year to deploy a system and are therefore in demand for software that is simpler and quicker to deploy, even if less rich and complex. For these customers, we have developed “software-as-a-service” software. This means that once they have purchased the solution, they only need to provide themselves with a web address, a login and a password and everything is available to them in the cloud”.
And IGE+XAO is also constantly innovating to improve the operational efficiency of its customers in the aeronautics sector, in particular for the maintenance of electrical systems.
“Historically the maintenance of an aircraft is 500 filing cabinets just for the electrical part”, recalls its CEO. However, there are almost never two identical planes. Each time maintenance was needed, the technician had to pull out his hundreds of binders, establish the correct diagnosis and update the documentation. “Digitalization therefore considerably changes and facilitates operations,” says Rodolphe Héliot. With our software, we participate in the implementation of the digital model of an aircraft, its electrical part more precisely. This allows a manufacturer to deliver an aircraft to a company by providing it not with the raw data but with a data access application for maintenance. In concrete terms, the software developed by IGE+XAO gives maintenance technicians access to 3D navigation to detect and repair precisely and quickly. “On his 3D model, the technician will be able to visualize the origin of the error, switch to a view of the electrical diagram to identify the faulty equipment and connect it to the 3D model to locate it in the device and not disassemble only the part to be repaired”, specifies Rodolphe Héliot. At Airbus, which has integrated the IGE+XAO software, the application is called airnavX.
As a software specialist for electrical engineering, IGE+XAO is therefore proving to be a high-quality technological partner for extracting the full value of an integrated digital chain, from design to operation.
