World number one Iga Swiatek advanced to the third round of the Italian Open following a landslide win 6-0, 6-2 over Bernarda Pera.
The Polish tennis player performed brilliantly following becoming champion at the Madrid Open last week to win in 78 minutes.
In the third round of the Italian Open, Swiatek will face world number 41 Yulia Putintseva following the Kazakh tennis player beat American (US) Sloane Stephens 6-3, 6-2.
After Pera’s victory, Swiatek admitted that she was happy to be back appearing in Rome.
“The conditions here are very different from in Madrid,” said Swiatek. “You have to adjust your game and the ball feels heavier. I had to train for two days before appearing in this match.”
“I had a fun week in Madrid. I’m also happy to be back here. I have beautiful memories here,” he continued.

In the first set, Swiatek didn’t give her opponent a chance and won 6-0 in 30 minutes.
Pera equalized at 1-1 early in the second set. The American worked hard to suppress Swiatek’s game but following eight break opportunities, the Pole took control of the match.
Pera then broke Swiatek’s serve before in the next two sets Swiatek didn’t stop and ended the second set with a score of 6-2. (eurosport/Z-1)
