Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was not produced by the Lahore High Court despite a court order.
For the recovery of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a separate petition was filed in the Lahore High Court by former chief minister’s lawyer Tahir Nasrullah Waraich.
The position adopted in the application was that Parvez Elahi was ordered to be released by the Judicial Magistrate yesterday, but despite the court order, he was not released and he is currently in the custody of Anti-Corruption.
The petitioner requested that the Lahore High Court order Parvaiz Elahi to be produced before the court and released after his recovery.
The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant of IG Islamabad and a bailable arrest warrant of Chief Commissioner Islamabad for not producing Parvez Elahi despite the court order. The court also issued contempt of court notice to the concerned SP for not executing the bailable arrest warrant.
Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf remarked that IG Islamabad did not appear before the court despite the bailable warrant being issued.
DIG Operations and DIG Investigation submitted a reply to the contempt notice stating that Islamabad Police had a 3 MPO detention order for Parvez Elahi’s arrest.
The police in their reply said that you are talking about three MPOs, there was a clear order of the court not to arrest them.
The court expressed its anger on the officer and said that the court order was not to arrest him in any case, because of these actions, the public has lost respect for the police, what are you doing, there is no law, if If you don’t enforce the law, who will?
Lahore High Court said that if you cannot execute the court order, then take off your uniform and do some other work. was
The court rejected the reply submitted by DIG Investigation and DIG Operations and adjourned the hearing of the case till October 2.
It should be noted that after being released in the case of financial irregularities yesterday, the Rawalpindi Police arrested Parvez Elahi in another case from Lahore.

**Interview with Legal Analyst, Dr. Ayesha Malik**
*Interviewer:* Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Malik. We’d like to discuss the recent developments surrounding Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and the Lahore High Court’s decision to remove his name from the passport control list. Can you provide some context on this situation?
*Dr. Malik:* Certainly! The Lahore High Court’s decision comes after a series of legal struggles involving Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, the former Punjab Chief Minister and president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. His name was placed on the passport control list, which essentially restricts individuals from leaving the country, especially when they are under legal scrutiny. The court’s recent ruling is a significant step towards his legal relief, but it also highlights ongoing tensions in Pakistani politics and the judiciary.
*Interviewer:* It has been reported that despite a court order for his release, he has not yet been produced in court. What are the implications of this for his case?
*Dr. Malik:* This is quite concerning from a legal standpoint. When a court issues a release order, it is imperative that the individual is presented to the court accordingly. In this case, Elahi’s continued custody by the Anti-Corruption department, despite a Judicial Magistrate’s order, raises questions about the enforcement of judicial rulings in Pakistan. It underscores a potential conflict between various governmental bodies and the judiciary, which may further complicate his legal situation.
*Interviewer:* There’s also a petition filed by his lawyer requesting the court to ensure his appearance. What might be the possible outcomes of this petition?
*Dr. Malik:* If the Lahore High Court accepts this petition, it could compel the authorities to produce Elahi in court, thereby reinforcing the authority of the judiciary. The court can also issue further orders regarding his release, or address any discrepancies that could point to violations of rights or legal procedures. This could further elevate the scrutiny on the Anti-Corruption department’s actions and could potentially pave the way for Elahi’s more comprehensive legal strategy moving forward.
*Interviewer:* Given the current atmosphere surrounding political figures in Pakistan, how might this situation impact the broader political landscape?
*Dr. Malik:* This incident is reflective of the rising tensions between political parties, particularly as Pakistan heads toward new electoral processes. The treatment of figures like Elahi can galvanize public opinion, influencing both supporter loyalty and political narratives. If Elahi is seen as being politically victimized, it could rally support for his party, while any perceived misuse of power or manipulation of judicial processes could generate public outrage. This dynamic could have significant repercussions for the upcoming elections and political alliances.
*Interviewer:* Thank you, Dr. Malik, for your insights on this developing story. It seems that this case is far from over and will continue to unfold in the coming days.
*Dr. Malik:* My pleasure! It’s certainly a critical time for Pakistan’s political framework, and I’ll be watching closely as events unfold.
