Ifrane capital of Arab justice

Morocco will host the 38th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice on October 20 in Ifrane, the Arab League announced on Friday.

In a statement to MAP, the director of the legal affairs department of the Arab League and head of the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, Maha Bakhit, indicated that “at the invitation of the Secretary General of the League of the Arab States and with the generous welcome of the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice will hold its 38th session on October 20 in Ifrane, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Justice of Morocco”.

She added that the convening of this session “comes at a time when the Arab region is experiencing great challenges in the field of the fight once morest organized crime and the phenomenon of terrorism”, explaining that the meeting will be an important step towards strengthening Arab and international cooperation mechanisms in the legal and judicial fields.

The meeting will thus discuss the activation of the Arab conventions related to the fight once morest terrorism, in particular the Arab Convention on the fight once morest terrorism and its implementation mechanism, the Arab Convention on the fight once morest money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as the Arab Convention on the fight once morest crimes related to information technologies.

The meeting will also be an opportunity to address the issues of the criminalization of ransom payments and the strengthening of Arab and international cooperation in the field of the fight once morest terrorism, she continued.

Ms. Bakhit also noted that the Arab justice ministers will examine the draft Arab convention on the situation of refugees in Arab countries, the draft Arab convention on the protection of personal data, the development of a draft Draft Arab Indicative Law to Prevent Hate Speech and Draft Arab Indicative Law for the Protection and Assistance of Displaced Persons in Arab Countries.

It will also discuss the development of a model unified Arab law on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the Arab draft law of orientation for the protection of children once morest recruitment in armed conflicts, the draft an Arab protocol to limit the illicit spread of weapons in the Arab region complementary to the Arab convention once morest transnational organized crime, as well as the Arab orientation bill to support the rights of the elderly, she pointed out.

The official also noted that the meeting will be marked by the participation of the Ministers of Justice of the Arab countries, while the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior, the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences will participate as observers.
