Thiruvananthapuram: The closing ceremonies of the International Film Festival are in progress in Thiruvananthapuram. The closing ceremony started at 6 pm. When the chairman Ranjith was invited to the stage for the opening speech of the program inaugurated by minister VN Vasavan, the audience welcomed him with cheers.
Hungarian director Bela Thar will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the function presided over by Minister V Sivankutty. Eminent writer M Mukundan will be the chief guest. Minister K Rajan is the chief guest of the function.
Bolivian film ‘Utama’ won the Suvarna Chakoram award while Mahesh Narayanan’s ‘Ariyip’ won the Netpac Award for Best Malayalam Film. The best audience award was won by Mammootty and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Nanpakal Nereth Mayakkum’.
