In the first months of this year, almost 100,000 euros were donated. Also this year, philanthropist Vilis Vitols, celebrating his 90th birthday, invited guests to respond to this call. Guests donated a total of 18 drones.
“I think that any Latvian who is throwing a big party today and expecting gifts from their guests is worth mentioning – it is better to donate to drones in Ukraine and, in addition, to drones made in Latvia! This is very important,” Vitols said.
All these drones will soon be sent to Ukraine to provide practical assistance to the Ukrainian patrol police unit, the International Legion and the 3rd Brigade.
In modern warfare, the drone is a very important weapon.
Like ammunition, they are always needed and there cannot be too much of them, confirmed Kārlis Krastiņš, a member of the Support Azov Latvia foundation: “It seems to us that when we talk regarding a million drones (promised by the EU), these 103 drones are a trifle once morest this background . But that’s not true! We calculated that these 103 drones might destroy Russian equipment worth regarding 50 million euros. Of course, under the right circumstances, with proper planning and luck.”
The Support Azov Latvia Foundation will deliver the drones to Ukraine itself.
