Completion of strengthening of system linkage with KORAIL… Implementation of usability that allows you to reserve a train when searching for a destination
[e대한경제=심화영 기자] ‘Naver Map’ has been changed to be more convenient for users who travel long distances. Naver announced on the 4th that the link between the ‘Naver Map’ application and the ticket reservation system of Korea Railroad Corporation (hereinfollowing referred to as KORAIL) has been completed.
When a user finds a way to a destination on the Naver Maps app, if there is a route using the train, he can proceed with ticket reservation at once. The trains available for reservation are ▲KTX, ▲Saemaeul, ▲Mugunghwa, ▲ITX-Cheongchun, and ▲Tourist trains operated by KORAIL.
Naver Map started linking train information with KORAIL in February 2021 and became the first domestic map service to support both location search and train reservation. However, in the meantime, following checking the route, the user had to go to the ‘train inquiry/reservation’ tab to check the train timetable and make a reservation. With this update, you can easily purchase train tickets by clicking the ‘booking’ button that can be found in the process of navigating the route.
With domestic travel being active, this update is expected to enhance user convenience ahead of the summer vacation season. After Corona 19 became ‘endemic’, the number of monthly ‘way finding’ on Naver Maps increased by 45% compared to last February. In particular, as the proportion of teenagers to 30s who use public transportation for long-distance travel is as high as 55% of Naver Maps users, it is expected that the use of the ‘Navigation-Booking’ function will be high.
Eun-sil Lee, leader of Naver Maps, said, “During the summer vacation season, when the demand for long-distance travel is increasing, we have improved the convenience of Naver Maps by collaborating with KORAIL. We will do our best to develop an app that improves the convenience of users’ lives by suggesting a way to reach them and supporting the movement itself through cooperation with various traffic information companies.”
