The foot is “always” topical, and when you have foot pain, morale is never really there.
In fact, when we think regarding everything that we do unconsciously with a foot, we can speak of a very precise instrument of life. A high-precision instrument that must combine power and flexibility. In addition to recognizing the ground on which it rests, it adapts to it instantly, even if the shoes have somewhat disturbed this quality which comes to us from the dawn of time. The foot is therefore the true “kingpin” of our autonomy of movement.
Having shoes has disrupted the natural quality of the foot, but it’s hard to go back! One detail, however: parents constantly ask their toddlers not to go barefoot. However, if the ground is neither cold nor dangerous, it is on the contrary an excellent idea to let a child have fun barefoot. It will later have a better footing.
To take care of our feet, there are certainly doctors, but also podiatrists whose specialty it is, but who are not doctors.
How should you take care of your feet on a daily basis?
First, wash them, at least every day, with a surgras soap. They must be dried carefully, especially between the toes, which most people do not do, complaining followingwards of irritation and fungus, mainly due to maceration.
You can regularly massage your feet with specific creams, because the thickness of their skin is not the same as for the rest of the body. This massage improves circulation and elasticity. It is also an opportunity to monitor the condition of the skin very regularly to prevent a small injury which, in a few days, can become very serious, for example in diabetics.
Be aware that there are different ointments depending on the type of problem to be treated: excessive sweating, heating, dryness, callus or mycosis.
Shoes: doctor’s advice
You must have shoes adapted to the morphology of your foot, which can be square, Egyptian, Greek, flat, hollow or deformed. Whether they are flexible or rigid, it doesn’t matter, but beware of the traumatic seams and the height of the heels: twenty-five millimeters maximum for men, forty-five for women.
Always buy your shoes in the evening, because the volume of the foot increases during the day, and systematically try on both shoes, because nature has given us all one foot stronger than the other. Feel free to walk around the store a bit, because under no circumstances should the longest toe touch the shoe.
For sports shoes, the first criterion of choice is your weight. The larger it is, the thicker and more resistant the sole must be.
There are multi-sport shoes that will therefore be good for physical activity in general. But if you are more of a cross-country walker, jogger or even a bike lover or a fan of wetlands, seek advice from a specialist store.
It is said that the normal life of a shoe does not exceed a few hundred kilometers. Take care because, as the wear is progressive, you don’t really notice it.
It is the qualities of the sole that are to be assessed and their damping function, not the external wear, which comes later. Six to eight months of use 3 times a week is maximum life.
In addition, whatever physical activity you choose, buy a shoe that is one size larger than your usual foot size.
Finally, the favorite accessory of the shoe is the sock. You have to apply the same rigor to your purchase as for shoes, favoring cotton, even if it is more difficult to wash, which behaves well whatever the temperature.
The fashion of teenagers who only wear sneakers is a problem and a subject that makes us seem old-fashioned to teenagers, but we are preparing for generations of flat feet.
Once a week, trying to impose other shoes would be enough…
